Question 1

Can my baby/newborn eat sultanas?

Accepted Answer

As a general rule, you should supervise children when they are very young and are given small snacks such as raisins. It is best to check with your paediatrician to see if your baby is old enough to eat them. Please note that dried fruits contain natural sugars.

Question 2

Can I eat sultanas while pregnant/breastfeeding?

Accepted Answer

Our sultanas are gently dried and should not cause any problems when consumed in normal quantities, even during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, it is always best to consult your doctor if you have any questions.

Question 3

What can I do with sultanas?

Accepted Answer

The question would probably be: what can't you use them for? Sultanas can be used for sweet classics such as raisin buns, muffins, cakes, cookies, biscuits and much more. They are also an absolute must-have in breakfast bowls, porridge or muesli. But these little berries can do more than just be sweet: they add an exciting flavour combination to curries, couscous or rice salads, and together with nuts, they make the ideal snack in trail mix. Of course, you can also snack on organic sultanas on their own or coated in chocolate.

Question 4

How should I store the sultanas and how long do they keep?

Accepted Answer

It is best to store sultanas in a cool, dry place. They will keep for 12 months in their unopened original packaging.

Question 5

What are the nutritional values of these sultanas and are they healthy?

Accepted Answer

You can always find the nutritional information for our products next to or below the respective product. 100g of our organic sultanas contain 297 calories, 68g of carbohydrates and 2.5g of protein. With 5.2g /100g, our organic sultanas are also a source of fibre. We stay away from labeling products healthy or not — what's healthy is a varied diet with sufficient physical activity.

Question 6

Are the sultanas organic?

Accepted Answer

Of course! Our sultanas come from certified organic agriculture.

Question 7

How are sultanas produced? Can I make them at home?

Accepted Answer

Basically, the principle is the same for all grapes: harvest, hang or lay on tarpaulins, shake off the stems, leave to dry – done. But the subtle difference lies in the details – more specifically, in the so-called dip. Before our grapes become sultanas, they are sprayed with a little cottonseed oil. This loosens the natural wax layer on the skin, making the berries more permeable to water and allowing them to dry faster. This produces the typical, slightly shriveled fruits with their intense sweetness. Want to make your own? Sure, in theory you can dry grapes at home – if you have a lot of patience. If you like things to be uncomplicated, it's better to go straight for our ready-dried organic sultanas and save yourself the long waiting process.

Question 8

What makes these sultanas so special?

Accepted Answer

Our organic sultanas are little natural talents: seedless, wonderfully sweet and with a delicate honey note. Before drying, they are given a quick oil bath, which helps them dry faster and prevents them from sticking together. And because they are organic, you can look forward to natural enjoyment without any additives – ideal for snacking, baking or refining savoury dishes.
