Plums and damsons: what is the difference?

You are probably asking yourself: are plums and damsons the same thing? Not quite, but they are related – more precisely, damsons are a subspecies of plums. Damsons are more elongated and have a bluish-purple skin, while plum varieties come in red, yellow, blue, purple, green and black. However, for simplicity, we use the two terms here interchangeably!

Can my baby eat plum purée?

In our opinion, babies aged 8 months and older can consume small amounts of our plum purée. However, every child has different needs. Please consult a medical professional beforehand, as we cannot replace medical expertise.

Is this purée vegan?

Of course! As our fruit purée is made from 100% plums, it is suitable for a vegan diet.

Purée, compote, pulp — what is the difference?

Puree and compote are often used interchangeably, but a compote is usually slightly finer and more often sweetened with added sugar than a puree. But don't worry, no sugar is added to our plum fruit purée. Fruit pulp is easier to distinguish: unlike compote, pulp cannot be sweetened according to law. In addition, pulp usually has a lower water content and is therefore thicker.

What makes this fruit purée so special?

The purée is made from 100% untreated, ripe plums from Hungary. Unlike other products, no sugar is added to our plum purée. We offer the purée in a convenient 800g value pack. The plum purée can be stored at room temperature as it has been gently thickened. This means that our plum purée is ready to eat straight away.

How should I store the plum purée and how long does it keep?

The plum purée should be stored in a dry place away from direct sunlight. The unopened jar can be kept at room temperature. Once opened, it should be refrigerated and consumed within a few days. The minimum shelf life in the unopened original packaging is 30 months after the production date.
