Looking for vegan donuts but don’t want to deal with a pot full of hot oil? Then our air fryer Rosquitos are the perfect alternative. In just 9 minutes, you get soft, golden rings with a subtle hint of orange – no deep-frying smell in your kitchen. They’re sweetened with coconut blossom sugar for a gently caramel-like note. Whether rolled in cinnamon, topped with pistachio butter or finished with a bit of chocolate – you can easily make them your own. Let’s get started!

225 g flour
70 g coconut blossum sugar
1 zest of an orange
1 Pinch salt
1 vanilla
2 Tsp. vegan egg substitute
30 ml water
1 tbsp. apple purée
40 ml orange juice, fresh
40 ml olive oil
20 ml plant milk
2 Tsp. instant dry yeast
0.5 Tsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. pistachio butter
1 tbsp. maple syrup
1 chocolate drops
0.5 Tsp. coconut oil
  • Step 1/8

Combine the vegan egg substitute, water, and apple puree. Let it thicken for 5 minutes.

  • Step 2/8

Add the remaining dough ingredients and knead into a soft dough. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

  • Step 3/8

After 1 hour, lightly knead the dough again and shape into small rings (makes 6 to 8 rosquitos).

  • Step 4/8

Brush the rings individually with olive oil and bake in the air fryer at 195 °C for 7 minutes on one side, then for 2 minutes on the other side.

  • Step 5/8

For the cinnamon-sugar topping: Mix the cinnamon, coconut blossom sugar, and organic orange zest. Dip the rosquitos in orange juice and coat them in the mixture while still warm.

  • Step 6/8

For the chocolate glaze: Melt the chocolate drops together with the coconut oil until smooth.

  • Step 7/8

For the pistachio topping: Stir the pistachio butter and maple syrup until smooth.

  • Step 8/8

Finally, dip the rosquitos into the liquid toppings and finish with your favorite toppings.
