Oh, how beautiful Greece is: Now you're probably thinking, just like us, of the blue houses, white beaches, sun, feta, flatbread - and of course olives! No other country is as famous for its olives as Greece, and rightly so! Once you've had a taste, you too will surely know the pain: Where else can you find such delicious olives as in Greece? If you are about to board the next plane to bring home a year's supply of your beloved Greek olives, wait! We have another option for you. Our new black Kalamata olives from Greece have an irresistible flavour that takes you on a culinary journey to the sunny olive plantations of Greece. Crickets chirping included!
Flavoursome olives from Greece
Kalamata olives, also called Kalamon olives, are a traditional Greek olive variety grown on the Peloponnese peninsula, in the Kalamata region. Due to their mild, buttery aroma, the black olives are often used for the production of olive oil. Unlike green olives, the dark, almond-shaped table olives have a firm bite and a soft, fleshy texture.
Black Kalamata olives in brine
Our black olives are harvested by hand and then naturally fermented. For this purpose, the fruits are traditionally pickled in a brine made of water, vinegar and sea salt. This gives the Greek olives their unique buttery and full-bodied flavour. The flavour develops over time: At first, the olives taste a little bitter due to the salt-vinegar brine, then they develop their fruity and aromatic sweetness - a unique taste experience that you can now enjoy at home!
Black olives as tasty allrounders
Our Greek olives bring a pinch of Greek flair into your kitchen: they are ideal for preparing hearty Greek tapenade and fresh dips or for spicing up salads. Of course, you can also use them for homemade olive bread, black olive pesto or as a spicy cooking ingredient for Mediterranean recipes. With their strong flavour, they add a special touch to any of your dishes. But the olives probably taste best as an anti-pasti: a nice aperitif, some bread and a few Kalamata olives make the cocktail evening perfect!
A full Greek portion
You certainly know it too - most olives are pitted to make it easier for you to eat or cook with. However, it is often forgotten that olives without stones lose their special flavour much more quickly. For the maximum taste, you can buy Kalamata olives with stones from us. As we all know, conviviality is very important in Greece: Invite your friends to a Greek evening and treat them to our organic Kalamata olives - everyone can use a little holiday feeling!
