Preparing couscous
Time for KoRo trivia: Where does the word couscous come from? Originating in northern Africa, couscous is one of the most popular staples in the world - along with rice, quinoa or bulgur. Couscous is made from grain, which is ground into semolina, moistened and then formed into small balls. In order to bring the oriental atmosphere into your own four walls and to get to know couscous in all its flavourful facets, you should follow a few tips when preparing it: Boil about 250 ml of water together with a teaspoon of salt and a tablespoon of olive oil or butter in a pot. As soon as it reaches a boil, remove the pot from the stove and stir the couscous into the boiling water. Leave the couscous to soak for 7 to 9 minutes until it has completely absorbed the water. Bulgur schmeckt ein wenig nussiger als Couscous. Außerdem handelt es sich bei Bulgur um Hartweizenkörner und bei unserem Couscous um Kügelchen aus Weichweizengrieß.
Für die Zubereitung von unserem Perl Couscous solltest Du zunächst etwa 250 ml Wasser in Kombination mit einem Teelöffel Salz und einem Esslöffel Olivenöl oder Butter in einem Topf zum Kochen bringen. Sobald das Wasser kocht, fügst Du 250 g Couscous hinzu und vermixt diesen kurz. Anschließend nimmst Du den Topf von der Herdplatte und lässt den Couscous etwa 7 - 9 Minuten quellen.
Wir empfehlen unseren Perl Couscous an einem trockenen, kühlen Platz zu lagern. Ab Zeitpunkt der Abfüllung besitzt der Couscous eine Mindesthaltbarkeit von 2 Jahren.
