An oldie but a goodie

With its birth around 4000 BC, the sesame plant is one of the oldest in the world. We appreciate it above all for its only edible part: its seeds. They don't just look good on your bread roll, but also enhance tofu, crackers, biscuits, laddu and even ice cream. They can also be used to make delicious tahini. For those with a sweet tooth, we have even added cocoa and coconut. Sesame oil is suitable for cooking and frying, but is also used in healing ointments.

What is the difference between white sesame and black sesame?

Ali Baba once got hold of a valuable treasure with "Open Sesame". Sesame is also super valuable. Not only because of its taste, but also because of its ingredients. For example, sesame is a source of protein and fibre. It depends on the plant whether it bears black or light-coloured sesame seeds. Why can't you digest sesame seeds?

Sesame seeds are a great source of fiber. The fiber is preferably contained in the hull and this is difficult to digest. This means that the hulls remain longer in the stomach / intestine and are often simply excreted undigested.

Where does the sesame seed come from?

The origin of our sesame is Uganda.originally sesame comes from wild plants from South Asia and Egypt. The plant loves subtropical climatic conditions, consequently there are also the cultivation areas. The harvest usually takes place between the end of summer and the beginning of autumn.

What is special about unhulled sesame seeds?

Our sesame enriches your dishes. It can be used in many ways, provides vegetable protein and is a source of fiber. If you can't get enough of sesame, you should definitely try our organic tahini.
