Why broken walnuts?
In order to get to the golden brown inside of the walnut - the walnut kernel - the nut has to be cracked open. That's not so easy, because the walnut is (in the truest sense of the word) a pretty tough nut! When cracking the walnut shell, so-called “walnut breakage” often occurs. But broken does not mean “bad” by any means, because the taste is of course the same. We at KoRo like to nibble on the walnut kernels as a snack in between , so we make sure that there are large pieces in your packaging. At KoRo, we analyse the greenhouse gas emissions that are produced during the production of our snacks. These include, among other things, CO2, methane and nitrous oxide. Our hard-working sustainability team collects all the information to calculate a value: the so-called CO2 equivalents.
