Is tofu healthy?

Nutritionally, with 12 grams of protein per 100 and a low fat content, tofu is a very solid staple for your kitchen. However, we at KoRo do not like to classify foods in healthy and unhealthy. After all, what is healthy is a varied and balanced diet combined with an active lifestyle, not certainly a specific food!

What is tofu made of, and how is it produced?

Tofu is made from soy beans. For our tofu with a hint of chili, the soybeans from Austria are first washed, soaked in water, and ground; the solids are then filtered out of the resulting soy milk, which is then heated and curdled with the addition of coagulants. Finally, paprika, chili peppers, garlic and salt are added and the resulting tofu curd is then pressed, cut, pasteurised and packaged for you.

How should I store this tofu, and how long does it keep?

Before opening it, you can store the tofu unrefrigerated and it is best to keep it protected from light. Properly stored and in the unopened original packaging, it will keep for at least 8 months after production. After opening the pack, you should keep it in the fridge, possibly in a jar or container, and use it within 2 days.

Yes, you can – without hesitation! Like all other tofu varieties from KoRo, you can also simply enjoy the organic tofu chili crumbled on your breakfast avocado toast or snack on it straight from the pack, if that's your thing!

The question should rather be: what is not special about it? Because like all other tofu varieties and meat alternatives, KoRo's chilli tofu is vegan, nutritious, tasty, and organic! A big plus is that the soy we use for it does not come from rainforests, but from Austria. And the vacuum packaging means that the tofu does not have to be refrigerated before opening.
